WATERDOWN EXPERIENCES

 WATERDOWN EXPERIENCES

One thing it's to play a game that offers a Waterdown Experience and another thing it's to Waterdown the Experience in the game. I play many games where people can give you the fake currency used to buy resources inside the game for free. EVE online uses ISK it's a fake currency in the game to buy ships and many others in game resources. Star Citizen uses aUEC which it's another fake money used to buy ships and weapons inside the game. In both games random people can give you totally free a few millions if they desire.

The problem with that receiving big amounts of money, coins or currency in the game it creates a Waterdown Experience. No more you have the goal to acquire the money. No more you have the motivation to grind for a new ship. No more we feel the need to continuing playing the game. The experience has been Waterdown. In EVE online it's not a good practice and I read in many forums you can be banned or denied the access to the game if you make gifting big amounts of ISK to random players in the game your style of play.

Waterdown It's a risk that many developers face when they decided to let players trade freely between them. I always read that some games enforce bans and many other methods to restrict the practice of gifting currency between players, but the main feature still exist. I never saw or heard somebody experiencing any kind of restriction for gifting big amounts of coins in the groups or public forums that I used to belong. The rumors still exist and people still do the gifts.

The feature to trade freely between players it's a fun one when it's use with purpose, when it's necessary to receive some help from other peoples. In Star Citizen you can be stranded and request help from anybody to pick you up for a price. Just like a taxi that anybody with a ship can do. Mostly of the time they do it for free and almost never take the 5000 or 6000 thousand aUEC you are offering them for their services. In EVE Online the free trade creates pretty interesting experiences from Bounty Hunting to practically create your own type of business. It's pretty awesome when the feature it's not abused.

Receiving Five or Six Millions of ISK will give you a HAULER a type of ship in EVE Online that will help you make more money. Getting those ships with free money that didn't evolve any kind of gameplay or grind could Waterdown anybody's experiences to the point of no playing the game no more. Many times I had to stop playing the games for weeks in order to coming back later on basically with a clean slate in order to enjoy the game.

Many people will rather receive the funds for free and let other people play the game for them, which at that point why even bother playing the game. Everybody experience and enjoy games very different. I believe that's why those features of freely trading between players still exist in the games. It could be a problem for me, but not for many. The idea it's neat and it doesn't seem to bother many people. Even though Developers has rules in place to discourage the abuse.
